Castor oil and coconut oil hair mask

Use this hair mask anytime your hair feels dry, brittle, weak and is breaking or just needs an intense moisture boost. This treatment will soften your hair and make it shiny and repeated use will make it strong and healthy.

  • 2 tablespoons castor oil
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • a drop of hair loving essential oil such as rosemary or peppermint (optional)

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.
Dampen you hair by spraying lightly with water and then rub the mixture into your hair, starting by rubbing into your scalp and then through the hair and concentrating on the ends to help avoid split ends.
Leave on for 15-30 minutes (or even 1-4 hours for an intense treatment) and wash out with your usual shampoo or even conditioner. You may use a clarifying shampoo if your hair type needs it.
Tip – if your coconut oil is solid, simply dip your closed jar in warm water and when the oil starts to soften, scoop out a tablespoon of the liquid oil to use in the recipe.

Use virgin oils for best results such as those sold at sheahealing.co.za, not supermarket products which are most likely chemically refined. Buy your oils – castor oil and coconut oil.
