Shea butter can be used in many ways to benefit the hair and skin.


Shea butter can be used for massage at home or in a professional environment. It can be used on its own or as a carrier for essential oils. It is beneficial in all sorts of massage applications – for health and wellness such as relaxation in spas, when treating sports injuries and in all sorts of therapeutic massage.

Skin care

Shea butter can be used as a body butter on its own or it can be combined with other oils and cosmetic ingredients such as cocoa butter, essential oils and herbs to make skin care cosmetics such as lip balms, skin moisturisers, soap and so on.

Hair Care

Shea butter can be used to moisturise hair and is good mixed with other ingredients such as coconut oil for hair.  Shea butter helps make hair healthy and strong and aids in hair growth.

Other uses

Did you know shea butter is edible? In West Africa where shea butter is harvested, it is used in cooking. In the food industry, it is increasingly being used as a palm oil and cocoa butter substitute.
